We are very pleased in our participation at this year’s LouFest. It’s an honor to represent St. Louis along side performers such as: The Killers, Wilco, The National, and Alabama Shakes! We will open the festivities at NOON on Saturday, September 7th.

Also, we are happy to report that we’ll be opening for Murder By Death at The Record Bar in Kansas City on Saturday, September 14th and the Outland Ballroom in Springfield, MO on Sunday, September 15th! We suggest buying tickets in advance.

AND, we will be opening for another well known group at Off Broadway on Thursday, August 8th. We can’t say who it is yet. But once it’s announced you will want to buy tickets waaay in advance. Seriously.

This Saturday, March 2nd, we’ll be releasing our new album, Hush Hush, at Off Broadway, with opening support from local favorites Pretty Little Empire and Louisville, Kentucky’s The Ladybirds. Until tomorrow night, we’ll be streaming the album for free on our Tunespeak page here.

About the album: Hush Hush, was recorded at Native Sound in St. Louis by David Beeman and David Vandervelde. It was mixed by Mr. Kit Hamon. Hush Hush features ten songs, which touch on issues of crime, moral corruption, human sexuality, and it also attempts to understand why good people do bad things. Musically and lyrically; there are beautiful moments, quiet moments, sad moments, funny moments. The album has a subdued violence but every once in awhile a whisper wiggles through the cracks into ear shot. It scorches the earth and then covers it in snow. We are incredibly proud of this album and excited to release it into the wild.

Finally, it was around this time last year we wrapped up our music video for Love the Lonely, which was the first single released from Hush Hush. The video was a great way to start off our 2012 and we couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out. It was shot by First Punch Studios and features many St. Louis faces. In the video, our lead singer, Jason Holler, is driving a cab on Valentine’s Day evening. The video stands as a dark love letter to the city and people of St. Louis.

This one is for all you sweet hearts out there.

And, being the end of the year, it’s that time again:  our 3rd annual Free New Year’s Eve Party at Off Broadway with The Blind Eyes.  Both bands will play their respective original sets, and at the end of the night, will combine forces to deliver a variety of covers ranging from Human League to Bob Seger to the Talking Heads and many more.  John Joern of Old Lights and Morgan Nusbaum of Bruiser Queen will be lending their vocal talents to some of the songs as well.  It’s gonna be a good time, and we guarantee it will fill up quickly, so get there early!

“On their new single, ‘Misshapen Love,” Kentucky Knife Fight sweat and swagger through horn-drenched, guitar frenzied Soul Punk anthem that should have been the soundtrack to every road trip this past summer. Aptly named Jason Holler possesses a set of pipes that sound like Alive Cooper right about the time he was yowling about being 18, and the rest of the band burns like bourbon, sometimes as a drink in a glass to smooth out the rough spots and sometimes on rags and boxes as an accelerant in an insurance arson. Kentucky Knife Fight will raise a hot blister on the most jaded Punk ass.”

“I’ve never been to St. Louis and I’m not too familiar with its music scene, but I feel as if Kentucky Knife Fight is representative of my perceived St. Louis sound. With lead singer Jason Holler’s signature snarl over rambling drums and sharp guitar riffs it’s easy to picture myself in a grimy St. Louis bar rocking out to KKF while putting back a Bud or two or five.”

We also have to thank Bloom Heavy for getting us back in Cape Girardeau at Buckner Brewery, Donnie Biggins for getting us back up in Chicago at the lovely Tonic Room, and Colin Croy and Steven Naji of Rolla, MO’s KMNR 89.7 for having us as the headliner of their Annual Freakers’ Ball. We had fun playing with all the bands involved in all the above shows, and we were especially happy to make new fans in all these great cities.

We’d also like to take this time to make a very special announcement: A remix of the song “Love the Lonely” will be featured in the opening credits and opening scene of 23 Minutes to Sunrise, a film shot in East St. Louis that stars Eric Roberts and Nia Peoples!  The movie follows the paths of four couples throughout the metro east area as they struggle to find their way to the dawn.
